Summer is the best season for tasty ice cream. But trending #icecreamchallenge could discourage you from eating a gelato.

#Icecreamchallenge started with a video, where a girl licked an ice cream and put it back to the freezer in one of Texas stores.

The incident occurred at a Walmart in Lufkin. The ice cream licker was identified as a teenage girl from San Antonio. Her original post on Twitter gained over 10.5 million views and over 35,000 comments.

So the video quickly became viral, sowing fear among ice cream lovers. Many people want to repeat the trick and this causes real problems for stores.

To such extent, that even police is involved in the situation. Now the authorities and shop owners in the US are puzzled over how to stop the challenge.

The initiator of the challenge has already been found. As the girl is under-age, the juvenile justice system in Texas took up her case.

But not only this girl has legal troubles. Two days ago, 36-year-old Lenise Lloyd Martin III was arrested in Louisiana (USA). He licked an ice cream and popped his fingers in it.

He recorded himself on camera and then uploaded the video to Facebook. And even the fact, that he later bought this ice cream hasn’t pulled him through the troubles.

Meanwhile, are full not only with hundreds of videos with people, repeating the risky trick, but also with positive variants of the challenge.

As a usual, there are two groups of people: the first one likes #icecreamchallenge, and the second – criticizes the participants of the challenge.

Often people post videos with hashtag #icecreamchallenge on Instagram, but instead of licking an ice-cream, they simply put it to the cart and then buy in order to show, that the challenge is not the wisest thing in the world.

Other people post videos with kindly requests not to spoil an ice cream as the person could have legal problems.

By the way, many life-hacks also appeared on the Internet – how to protect yourself from buying licked ice cream. The author of this picture recommends simply cutting off the top of the dessert.

This is not only about disgust – other person’s saliva can carry multiple bacteria and viruses.

After licking, all this will remain on the top of an ice-cream and a buyer could take such infections as colds, influenza, measles, and mononucleosis.

Also, there are a collection of viral photos of the precautions that stores and officials are taking to protect ice creams. Stores are even asking the police to patrol the freezers and lock the ice cream cases.

But we hope that you understand all the consequences of participating in this challenge and won’t do this! Simply buy a tasty summer dessert as you usually do.
