Despite “Game of Thrones”, the last season of which was released several days ago, and sensational “Big Little Lies” a lot of interesting TV series will be released this year. So, production companies have to do their best to make us choose their products. “The Witcher”, “The Mandalorian”, “The Twilight Zone” and other projects – here are all TV series, which are worth seeing in 2019.

#13 Project Blue Book

Creator: David O’Leary | Cast: Aidan Gillen, Michael Malarkey, Laura Mennell | Release: January 9, 2019 (IMN Creative)

The action takes place in the 50s of the last century. Astronomer Joseph Allen Heineck and US Air Force captain Michael Quinn face UFO activity. Trying to understand their origin, they meet with resistance from the government, hiding these facts.

#12 Deadly Class

#11 The Umbrella Academy

The series is based on Gerard Way’s comics, former singer of the band My Chemical Romance. The plot tells about children with supernormal abilities. In childhood, the alien Reginald Hargreaves gathered them together and adopted. The Umbrella Academy promises a new look at superhero stories.

#10 What We Do in the Shadows

The storyline features about three vampires who have lived in the same house in New York for centuries. The authors of the film Taika Whiteity and Jemaine Clement are directly involved in the project – a silly, but the funny script is provided.

#9 The Twilight Zone

Creators: Simon Kinberg, Jordan Peele, Marco Ramirez | Cast: Jordan Peele, Rob Carpenter, Shalyn Ferdinand | Release: April 1, 2019 (CBS)

Jordan Peele decided to restart the classic anthology series. In the original, each episode of the Twilight Zone told a separate story on the verge of science fiction, horror, and mysticism. What will happen this time is still unknown, but it’s suggested that the new plots will somehow be connected with modern realities.

#8 Good Omens

Creator: Neil Gaiman | Cast: Adria Arjona, Brian Cox, Benedict Cumberbatch | Release: May 31, 2019 (Amazon Prime)

The demon Crowley (David Tennant) and the angel Aziraphale (Michael Sheen) are in the center of the plot. They have been living on the Earth for a long time and have a friendly relationship. When the child-antichrist has born, they decide to combine their strengths and educate him as an ordinary person in order to avoid the end of the world.

#7 Swamp Thing

“Swamp Thing” is based on the same-named comics cycle. Abigail Arcane, a worker at the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, is trying to find out the origin of the deadly swamp virus. The heroine meets a colleague Alec Holland, but soon he dies. However, Alec will return to the world in the form of a conservationist, which will be called the Swamp Thing.


#6 The Boys

The plot tells about the world where superheroes have become real stars. But behind the scenes, they begin to afford very unpleasant things. Then the CIA decides to create a special squad “Guys”. Its members should put bullying superheroes in place and, if necessary, eliminate them.

#5 The Mandalorian

Creator: Jon Favreau | Cast: Pedro Pascal, Omid Abtahi, Gina Carano | Release: November 12, 2019 (Lucasfilm)

John Favreau (“Iron Man”, “The Lion King”) is working on the first series on the Star Wars universe. According to the published synopsis, the plot will tell about a mercenary – coming from the same planet as Django and Boba Fett. The action will develop seven years after the battle of Yavin (“A New Hope”) and, accordingly, before the events of the “Force Awakening”.


#4 The New Pope

Creator: Paolo Sorrentino | Cast: Jude Law, Stefano Accorsi, Javier Cámara | Release: December 2019 ( Canal+)

Technically, this is a continuation of the series “Young papa”, but Paolo Sorrentino says that it should be taken exclusively as a separate story. Details of the plot are not disclosed, but it is known that John Malkovich will play the Pope, and Sorrentino will again personally remove all the series.


#3 The Witcher

Creator: Lauren Schmidt | Cast: Henry Cavill, Freya Allan, Joey Batey | Release: end of 2019 (Netflix)

This series is based on Andrzej Sapkowski’s novels. Henry Cavill plays the main role of witcher Gerald of Rivia and this is a point of controversy. The first shots from the test chamber only added fuel to the fire. But in any case, fans of the books and the games are waiting for the series. Details of the plot have not yet been disclosed.

#2 Watchmen

The series on the legendary comic book “Watchmen” will be released this year. There are only a few details about the plot. Project author Damon Lindelof claims that this will not be either a remake or a sequel to the original comic plot. A modern-day reimagining where superheroes are treated as outlaws and must embrace the nostalgia.


#1 Snowpiercer

Creator: Graham Manson | Cast: Jennifer Connelly, Daveed Diggs, Mickey Sumner | Release: 2019 (Tomorrow Studios)

This is the remake of the same-named film and the French graphic novel Le Transperceneige. As in the film, humanity here will be presented as passengers of a huge train. But the series promises more complex relationships.
